Calls for Application at the IWM in Vienna

The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) has just published several new calls for application:

1) The PAUL CELAN Fellowship 2013/2014 for translators
Deadline for application: January 31, 2013

The program supports translations from Eastern to Western, Western to Eastern, or between two Eastern European langugages of cannonical texts as well as contemporary key works in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Studies. Special Emphasis is put on translations of relevant works written by East European authrors and/or by female scholars.

Fellows will spend 3 to 6 months at the IWM in Vienna, Austria. They will receive a stipend of EUR 2,050 per month and are provided with an office, access to e-mail and internet, research and administrative facilities as well as other services free of charge.

2) MILENA JESENSKA FELLOWSHIPS FOR JOURNALISTS 2013/2014
Deadline for application: February 15, 2013

The program offers European cultural journalists (incl. Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan) time off from their professional duties in order to pursue in-depth research on a topic of their choice. Candidates are asked to relate their proposals to one of the main research fields of the IWM.

Fellows will spend 3 months at the IWM in Vienna, Austria. They will receive a stipend of EUR 7,500 in total and are provided with an office, access to e-mail and internet, administrative and research facilities as well as other services free of charge. Travel grants of up to EUR 1,900 can be paid for research trips to neighbouring countries.

3) BRONISLAW GEREMEK FELLOWSHIPS 2013/2014
Deadline for application: February 15, 2013

The program will enable Polish senior and junior researchers to work on a research project of their choice at the IWM. The fellowships are open to all academic disciplines in the humanities and social sciences; research proposals related to one of the IWM´s main fields are strongly encouraged.

Fellows will be invited to spend the academic year 2013/14 (ten months from September 2013 to June 2014) at the IWM to pursue their research projects while working in residence. Senior Visiting Fellows will receive a stipend of EUR 3,800 per month and Junior Visiting Fellows will receive a stipend of EUR 1,800 per month and are provided with an office, access to e-mail and internet, research and administrative facilities as well as other services free of charge.
