The Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Law and History in the South-West University “Neofit Rilski”, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria

has the pleasure to announce a call for papers for its third International conference:

Sociology and Law. The 150th Anniversary of Emile Durkheim (1858-1917)

The conference will take place on 29-31 May 2008 in the South-West University “Neofit Rilski”, 66 Ivan Mihailov Str., 2700 Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. The key topic of this event should be the discussion about the academic heritage of Emile Durkheim. The conference should deal with topical problems and appeals in the sphere of relations between sociology and law, which contemporary united Europe has to face.

The South-West University, established in 1975, holds the highest grade “Very good” of the State Institutional Accreditation by the National Agency for Accreditation and Evaluation, a body of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The Department of Sociology, established in 1994, is one of the leading centers of Bulgarian sociology. Its two previous international conferences were heavily attended and resulted in the publication of two books:

The full papers should be up to 10 standard pages (Microsoft Office Word 2003, Font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 12, Line Spacing: 1.5 lines; with endnotes and references).

Board, lodging and transportation between Sofia and Blagoevgrad will be provided by the organizers for the conference days. There will be no conference fee. We regret that no other costs (travel, visas, etc.) can be reimbursed. Participants are kindly advised to seek funding for their travel from other sources.

Those who need a visa to travel to Bulgaria should consult the Bulgarian consulate services in their country as soon as possible.
