The program committee welcomes original contributions on the following topics:
- Hermeneutics of freedom and democracy in modern Europe
- Treaties of the European Union: political and philosophical aspects
- EU institutions (courts, parliaments, executives, bureaucracies) and the understandings of freedom, responsibility and/or democracy in their respective contexts
- Eastern Europe (1989-91) and political philosophy
- Southeast Europe, Turkey and the European Union
- A European ethos and the concept of European civil society
- Social solidarity, integration and conceptions of European citizenship
- The European Union as a liberal legal order
- Freedom, justice, democracy and capitalism(s) in Europe
- Migration, borders and the new territories of multiculturalism: political, legal and social aspects
- Comparative issues (for example, the EU and the USA)
Other topics falling under the conference's remit will be considered.
Sections:
Political philosophy, philosophy od law, political and social ethics, political science, interdisciplinary studies
Student session:
Graduate and postgraduate students are invited to register for the conference with a 10-minute presentation on a selected topics. Selected contributions from postgraduate students will be integrated into the senior sessions.

Abstract submission deadline: September 1, 2008.
All abstracts will be published in a Book of Abstracts. The Book of Abstracts will be available at the conference. Please send abstracts of no more than 150 words to:
Conference papers:
Papers should be suitable for a 15-minute presentation. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Papers will be published in Fall 2009 in a special volume of journal Poligrafi - International Edition (ISSN 1318-8828). For journal information see: http://poligrafi.nova-revija.si
