CAS 29/11/2017

Central European University, Budapest, is pleased to announce a call for applications for the academic year 2018/2019. The Department of History at CEU offers internationally recognized graduate and postgraduate degree programs that cover Eastern, Southeastern, Central European and Eastern Mediterranean histories, from the early modern period to the present day. Our faculty’s expertise extends from the history of the Habsburg, Romanov, and Ottoman Empires to the comparative study of totalitarian regimes in the 20th century, as well as the post-communist period; from numerous aspects of social, cultural and intellectual history to comparative religious, visual and archival studies. In addition, there are a number of Specializations and Advanced Certificate programs that allow students to pursue their special interests in greater depth. The international faculty (currently representing 16 countries) and student body at the Department provide a distinctive possibility of thinking about history across geographical regions, historical periods, and disciplines, while the 8:1 student/faculty ratio ensures an intensive learning experience.

CEU is committed to providing education available for all. The vast majority of our students (over 80 percent on the MA level and 100 percent of the PhD Candidates) receive generous financial aid that allows to dedicate their full energies to their studies. Students willing to be considered for financial aid should apply by February 1st, 2018.

This year has been turbulent for CEU as well as for the whole world, and CEU has become the flagship of the global struggle for academic freedom. Should you have any questions regarding how the current situation may affect prospective students, please do not hesitate to consult CEU’s website.
