- The purpose of the proposed article is the “differentiation” of the specifics of social capital from the multitude of interpretations to be found in scientific analyses of this “epiphenomenon” in economic activities. Social capital in this case is regarded as a resource with its own content, which is described through the defined by M. Herzfeld concept of “cultural intimacy”. Based on this understanding of social capital, an attempt is made to justify the statement of preexposing of social capital in the complicated and difficult process of adjustment of Bulgarian economic subjects to the European economic environment. The main assumption is that, in a situation of deficiency of other capital resources in the conditions of global and local transformation because of the “coevolution” process accompanying the Euro-integration process of Bulgarian society, individuals resort to preexposing of social capital.
